Chop & Brew – Episode 05: Irish Beef Stew & Some Tasting Notes

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinteresttumblrmail

This episode has some Chop AND Brew. First, we make an Irish Beef Stew to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (also good for any random chilly evening). Then Chip is joined by Bryon Adams, Chris Paynes and Don Osborn for tasting notes on The Nazz Session IPA and Golden Sunlight Belgian Tripel IPA brewed back in Episode 03. The discussion includes some thoughts on late-addition hops, mid-fermentation sugar additions and mash temperatures. [Original posdate: April 14, 2013]

Awesome episode. I specifically enjoyed Chris’s critique of the beers on show. Does he have a blog to follow or a site to subscribe to? Thanks a lot Chip.
    Sean from Ireland 🙂

Yeah. Great episode. And agree on Chris. Insightful and full of knowledge. Natural in front of the camera too – when you gave him the chance to speak. Contract him before he gets famous. 🙂

I second Sean’s feedback. Chris’ critique and knowledge was great. Also liked that you (Chip) didn’t hide the fact that your beer didn’t turn out well. I’ve done 8 extracts now and about to move into All Grain and at least 2 of the 8 have been duds… But a 4.5% dud is still good for something I guess. Love the website Chip!

I loved this episode. Best one yet now that there’s some chop before the brew. My wife actually sat down and watched during the cooking part and she never watched BTV with me. Also, great job with the video cuts–you are a pro.

Chip, your videos are better in quality then before. I like the way your cutting them together. Enjoy your stuff.

Glad I heard about this show… I missed BTV for a while. Keep up the good work! Very cool episode.
