Valkyries Horn is one of the a newer mead competitions, but is already highly regarded among mead makers and mead judges. In 2020, comp organizers pivoted and persevered to create a fun and unique virtual judging experience, and by doing so helped rewrite the rules and guidelines on coordinating contests in the age of COVID. Chip talks with competition co-organizer Kevin Mientsma about the challenges the team overcame, the ups and downs of virtual judging, and they look ahead to this year’s Valkyries Horn, which is coming up fast!
